The Vancouver Canucks have acquired defenseman Cole Clayton, together with second-round picks within the 2026 and 2027 NHL Entry Drafts, from the San Jose Sharks in trade for Kiefer Sherwood.
Clayton, 25, is within the midst of his fifth professional season, spent solely within the AHL. He has recorded two targets and three assists in 33 video games for the San Jose Barracuda in 2025-26.
A local of Strathmore, Alta., Clayton has appeared in 257 profession AHL video games with San Jose and Cleveland, totaling 14 targets and 52 assists for 66 factors. He was chosen as Cleveland’s workforce winner of the IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Yr award in 2024-25.
