World No. 45 Sebastian Baez has given Argentina a 1-0 lead over Spain on Day 1 of the United Cup in Perth.
Competing in his first match on the combined groups occasion, the 24-year-old recorded a 6-4, 6-4 win towards Jaume Munar in a single hour and 43 minutes.
With the victory, Baez secured his first Prime 50 win since defeating then-No. 46 Mariano Navone on his option to the title in Rio final February.
