Isaac Howard, who received the 2025 Hobey Baker Memorial Award as the highest males’s participant in NCAA ice hockey, was traded to the Edmonton Oilers by the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday for Sam O’Reilly.
Howard then signed a three-year, entry-level contract with Edmonton.
The 21-year-old ahead had 52 factors (26 targets, 26 assists) in 37 video games final season, his second at Michigan State College after starting his collegiate profession on the College of Minnesota Duluth. He was chosen by the Lightning within the first spherical (No. 31) of the 2022 NHL Draft.
Howard stated after profitable the Hobey Baker that his plans have been to return to Michigan State for his senior season.
“I need to win a nationwide championship. I didn’t play to win a Hobey,” he stated. “On the finish of the day, I need to win a nationwide championship.
