Large shoutout to Klaus Obermeyer who turned 106th at present. Klaus was born in Germany in 1919 and witnessed the rise of Nazi fascism. He escaped Germany into Switzerland on skis. In the course of the escape he was shot and fell off a cliff breaking his leg. Klaus managed to get out of the mountains alive and was discovered by a sympathetic nurse who hid him in a Swiss hospital till the WW2 was over.
Klaus then moved to Aspen in 1947 the place he began Sport Obermeyer. Throughout his first yr as a ski teacher at Aspen, Klaus observed the entire inadequacies of his college students’ gear and headed to the drawing desk. Klaus created almost a dozen ski trade firsts, together with quilted down parkas turtlenecks, twin building ski boots, pre-shaped gloves, mirrored sun shades, and excessive altitude sunscreen.
Licensed legend. We want very completely satisfied 106th birthday!
